Erin and Andrew's Castle Hill Wedding - Newport, RI

One of my fondest memories about Erin's wedding was.....? The initial consultation!!!! Her name definitely sounded familiar when I booked the appointment, and maybe my name was a bit familiar to her too, but as soon as she entered the studio we both had to laugh! We had been classmates at Holy Cross some 10 years ago and recognized each other instantly!
After swapping stories and catching up for a while, it was time to talk flowers. Erin mentioned that her favorite color was yellow so after a bit of brainstorming we decided that her bouquet should be an AWESOME compilation of all yellow flowers. The end result was amazing...yellow bouquets are really incredible and Erin's was definitely my favorite. It looked great against her gown and definitely stood out in all her pictures, which were shot by Kristin Spencer Photography. We used 3 kinds of yellow roses, yellow freesia, dahlias, calla lilies and yellow cymbidium orchids.

Erin's maids' bouquets also had hints of yellow but the dominant colors were green and berry. I loved this color combo as well...it was really clean and bright and coordinated beautifully with the ladies' sashes.

Erin chose both high and low centerpieces for her reception that were a great mix of bright, late summer/early fall colors. While the bridal party and church decor focused on chartreuse greens, berry and yellow we later introduced orange florals into the reception decor as well.
Using great flowers like hydrangea, roses, hypericum berries, stock, snapdragons, green amaranthus and bold dahlias, Erin's centerpieces were full of texture and interest. Warm natural candlelight added the perfect touch...the tent at Castle Hill glowed throughout the evening.

I loved being a part of Erin's wedding and having the chance to reconnect as fellow Crusaders! This summer we will also have the pleasure of working with Erin's sister Kait on her wedding florals. Stay tuned for more O'Hara pictures later in 2010!!!
