Dear Semia, Kathy and the FBS Staff,

Words do not seem to do justice to the beautiful flowers you created for our wedding. It was when the bride's bouquet was delivered (which was the most incredible and unique blend of oranges) that it finally felt like wedding day! It was exquisite. The bridesmaid's bouquets and mother's bouquets were more beautiful than i could have imagined. Your attention to detail was obvious - the wiring through some bouquets, the fiddlehead ferns, the lace around my bouquet...all stunning. The orange cymbidium orchids are my new favorite! The tall centerpieces at the reception were amazing!! The blend of colors and branches with the hanging votives -- so unique and romantic. The low centerpieces were also so beautiful and classic. The room was a masterpiece. Thank you so much. Even before the reception - the urns for the ceremony with the large branches created a beautiful arch and highlighted us as we spoke our vows between them. Everyone was so taken aback by the beauty of the room, and we could not have envisioned it if we tried. It was stunning! 

Thank you for all of your hard work (and for working all the way until you were in labor!!) and your constant ideas and advice. Please use us as a reference if you should ever need it!

Looking Back at Some of Our Past Weddings

As our blog is still in its early stages, we thought it would be a great idea to showcase some of our outstanding weddings from 2009. Each and every one of our weddings is special to us, and even more special are the friendships we've made along the way. Thank you ladies for choosing our studio!!! Kelly & Patrick's Island House Wedding 

 September 2009

Kelly's wedding was an ultra chic event at Belle Mer's Island house. Her color scheme was spectacular... platinum with accents of deep plum and rich violet. While we kept the floral decor predominately white and green for the ceremony and reception, Kelly wanted to introduce the plum and violet tones in the maids' bouquets as well as during cocktail hour. The women carried velvety bouquets comprised of magenta cymbidium orchids, deep maroon roses and bright plum dahlias. The cocktail table centerpieces were also a compilation of these rich tones and looked amazing against a deep violet linen. Kelly's own bouquet was absolutely breathtaking....a bouquet comprised ENTIRELY of white phalaenopsis and cymbidium orchids with stems wrapped in gorgeous fabric and tons of bling!!! Two spectacular floral elements from the wedding included a tremendous place card display as well as beautiful ceremony urns. On Belle Mer's tuscan wood table, we created a huge sandblasted manzanita tree set in a bed of grass. Crystals and orchid blossoms hung from the branches while the place cards themselves were nestled in the grass. To top it all off, the table was further accented with huge succulents and diamonds. I always love mixing really natural elements with something a little glitzy...the combo works so well. As for the ceremony, we created two HUGE urns of white hydrangea that flanked the bride and groom. Designed in tall, modern containers that fit Belle Mer perfectly, this kind of design always reminds me that using one kind of flower in great abundance can really have jaw dropping effects.  For the tables, we designed two different centerpieces to compliment Kelly's love of white and green blooms as well as tons of candlelight and a little bling! The first centerpiece was a large glass cube filled with white and dutch green hydrangea, white cymbidium orchids, white roses and freesia. The second was a collection of different vases filled with only one kind of white or green bloom. Each design was then accented with a myriad of floating candles...both in short and tall glass vessels. For a finishing touch we added some really special details to each table such as succulents, white glass spheres and of course, our signature diamonds. The result was spectacular! No two tables were the same and each design looked incredibly clean and modern against her rich platinum linen. The whole Island house glowed as did Kelly's sweetheart table which was dressed entirely in candles, diamonds and white orchid blooms. You can't get any more romantic than that!

Elizabeth & Edward's Misquamicut Club Wedding 

September 2009

There were so many layers to Elizabeth's Misquamicut wedding! When we first met she told me that she wanted the wedding decor to have a South Beach vibe, an "Out of Africa" meets British Colonial feel, as well as echo the New England feel of Misquamicut! It was a challenge...but we love a challenge!!! We pulled it off and the results were spectacular! Rhode Island Rentals provided a huge majestic tent and a one of a kind dance floor as the backdrop to our designs. Since Elizabeth had 30 tables we decided to create 3 different centerpieces. She especially loved huge foliage and all white blooms so we focused on some amazing huge leaves that were flown in from Puerto Rico and all white flowers such as freesias, callas, orchids and dahlias. I swear, I have never seen leaves so big in my life! One third of her tables were a collection of low vases filled with one kind flower or foliage in each accented with tons of candles. And by collection, I mean COLLECTION....between all the vases and glassware for the candles, I think we had over a dozen pieces of glass on the table!!! The high centerpieces were the same concept but these tall vases held the huge leaves and large blooms like green goddess calla lilies. The modern, clean style of these centerpieces were a nod to the South Beach feel while the enormous, exotic leaves screamed Out of Africa. We even had huge vases filled with a myriad of leaves all around the perimeter of the tent...it was like a jungle...but yet so modern and clean! The third design was a gorgeous compilation of 3 white phalaenopsis orchid plants set in a garden of moss, curly willow and fragrant gardenias. As far as British Colonial, Elizabeth used crisp, ivory linen tablecloths and also rented a wicker lounge that we decorated with elements like manzanita, unique capiz seashells in glass containers, interesting plant material and tons of candlelight. She also rented wicker chargers and accented with a great red print that popped the lounged as well as the cocktail tables. In order to include a bit of the New England, Misquamicut feel, we decorated the Watch Hill Chapel in predominately deep blue and green hydrangeas and we used pure white hydrangeas on several of the low centerpiece tables. We also accented cocktail tables with glass vessels filled with sand and capiz shells and Elizabeth used gorgeous tiger shells to hold her place cards. Lastly, one of the most striking elements from Elizabeth's wedding was her bridal bouquet. she had her heart set on a gorgeous white glamelia and boy did she get it!!!! Possibly one of the best bouquets I've ver seen...a glamelia is one large flower fashioned out of several hundred individual petals. It takes an eternity to make but it is worth every minute. Her bouquet looked stunning against her dress....so original, so soft and so feminine. If anyone is looking for a bouquet that is utterly original and so gorgeous that you just want to stare at it all day, consider a glamelia!!!!

Jenna & Brendon's Belle Mer Wedding 

 July 2009

The best way to describe Jenna's wedding was "South Beach meets Botanical Garden!!!". While the abundance of crystals, diamonds and gorgeous white phalaenopsis orchids lended itself to the south beach look, her love of interesting botanicals like manzanita and succulents played up the garden vibe. The two concepts blended seamlessly at Belle Mer. After 20 days of straight rain, Jenna's July 4th wedding was probably the best weather day of the whole summer! What a treat for the guests as we decorated an unbelievable lounge area outside with clear vases filled with orchids, huge manzanita branches, and of course a few diamonds here and there! Jenna's bouquet was stunning...and yes, a little on the large size but I couldn't help it...just too many gorgeous elements that I had to add!!! She carried white phalaenopsis with pure white hydrangea, mini succulents, white peonies, white freesia, and a hint of bunny tail. Tucked within the fresh flowers we added some gorgeous fabric flowers with crystal centers made exclusively for this bouquet by Nancy Rodrigues Spirito at Bridal Finery. These fabric flowers echoed the detailing on Jenna's dress as well as her GORGEOUS bracelet. One of my favorite elements from this wedding was the chuppa. We custom made the chuppa out of twisted branches and vines and then adorned the whole structure with white phalaenopsis. It was so gorgeous....absolutely breathtaking with the gorgeous view behind it. Inside Belle Mer, Jenna had a mix of high and low centerpieces. The highs were manzanita trees with fabulous gardens below, the lows were manzanita branches laid horizontally with orchid, diamond and succulent accents below. The entire venue was aglow with our natural candlelight as well as Tony Ormonde's fabulous lighting. Special touches were everywhere...from the UNBELIEVABLE manzanita and crystal tree on the place card table to the "living table" we designed for the cake. The wedding was absolutely breathtaking....as was Jenna! From start to finish it was a true pleasure being a part of this wedding!
