The Farm is Bursting with Color!!

Spring blossoms are at their peak right now and it's very evident at the farm!  We have rows of pink cherry blossoms, white and pink dogwood and bleeding hearts. Not to mention a ton of purple and white lilacs! We've been incorporating these gorgeous blooms into our everyday arrangements and event decor over at the shop...you know you want one too! Shout Out to Laura Goforth!!!!! -- 9.11.2010

OK, I couldn't resist....I mean it's not everyday that one of us vendors is the one tying the knot!!!!

In case you don't know her, Laura Goforth ( pictured on the left with me and Kristin Spencer at my wedding) from Fine Catering by Russell Morin, has been responsible for many many gorgeous weddings throughout the years and now......it's her turn!!!!!!!!

 

So not only am I thrilled for her on a personal level, but I'm beyond psyched to design her wedding flowers!!!! We're going for a truly rich palette...but I can't give it away...you just have to wait until September. Oh....and the most exciting news of all??? Laura told me I can SURPRISE her with her bridal bouquet! That's right!! Its' a floral designer's dream come true! I've already decided that I'm going to create two amazing numbers for her.....one white...one full of color....neither are going to be traditional in any way. I've got goose bumps already.....! Stay tuned for the week of her wedding when we unveil the designs....no peaking Laura!!!

Chrissy and Danny's Ocean Cliff Wedding - Newport, RI

OK....Chrissy was possibly one of the nicest brides ever!!!! So laid back and completely trusting...which allows us to get our creative juices flowing!!! One of my fondest memories of Chrissy.....? She came into the studio a few days before the wedding and saw the buckets of her flowers spread out all over the shop and she burst into tears.....happy tears of course!!! She kept walking from bucket to bucket just touching everything and saying....."what's this?...I love it!"......"what's this...?  I love it!!!".  Do you remember any of this Chrissy??? :)

 

Well...we loved it too...a gorgeous palette comprised of plum, green and ivory tones. For flowers we used late summer blooms with tons of texture and of course introduced one of our favorite signature elements.....fresh herbs!  Interspersed amongst the gorgeous white and green hydrangea, purple dahlias, white freesia, aubergine scabiosa, white roses and green hypericum, we were able to accent with fresh rosemary and mint. The centerpieces couldn't have smelled any better....we loved creating them...the shop smelled so amazing!!! :)

 

Chrissy carried an elegant mix of all timeless creamy white and green blooms....hydrangea, freesia, roses, lisianthus, herbs....it doesn't get any more romantic than that. Coupled with a sentimental handkerchief and brooch....even her bridal bouquet "wore" jewelery! I love incorporating a sentimental or unexpected non-floral element in the bridal bouquet. It's such a personal statement....I love to see what my brides bring me. Chrissy....you looked beautiful...always smiling...thank you again for all the fun!!!!
