Lindsay and Jonathan's Castle Hill Wedding

Lindsay's wedding flowers were all about great texture and unexpected color combinations. Her palette was really rich...a blend of what I call "beet" color with accents of deep apricot. To emphasize the red/amethyst part of this color combination we used flowers such as cranberry colored calla lilies, deep red James Storri orchids, dark maroon dahlias and cymbidium orchids, beet colored roses and bold purple hybrid delphinium.

For the lighter side of the palette we used mango colored cymbidium orchids and a gorgeous deep apricot rose named Cinnamon. Another layer to the color palette was a hint of bluish green...just enough to lighten it up. The effect was amazing...this is now one of my favorite color combinations! In order to pull in these bluish green tones we used one of our most beloved natural elements....SUCCULENTS! We had them peeking out of the maids' bouquets, the boutonnieres, as well as in the chair pails used during the ceremony. I love succulents of any kind but I think the tealish ones are some of my favorites. Just look at the color combinations found in the maids' bouquets.....AWESOME!

The unique pairings didn't stop there....the textures and materials present in the ceremony arbor were great....dark ti leaves mixed with hanging amaranthus, feather plumes and dahlias amongst other things.

And for the place card table....large vases filled with only one type of flower.....it really does make the greatest statement and the differences in texture are fun to play with. For example, I loved the contrast between cool mango colored callas and sexy, drippy amaranthus.
For the centerpieces, each design was different from the next. Some tables had 3 vases filled with only one variety of flower in each, others had a compilation of all the flowers used  throughout the day. Other tables had a grouping of tall rectangular vases with submerged orchid stems surrounded by candlelight. Especially for smaller weddings, doing different centerpieces on each table is not only more interesting, its a creative way to use a wide range of different looks (for those of you brides who just can't make up your mind when it comes to all the fabulous flowers nature has to offer)! In fact, I don't think we repeated much of anything when it came to Lindsay and Jon's wedding florals. With the exception of the maids' bouquets and the chair pails, each floral design was unique from all the rest. And that kind of creativity makes all the difference.

Felice & David's Belle Mer Wedding

Felice and David's wedding was such a labor of love. After two years of planning, brainstorming, and acquiring more glass diamonds and crystals then anyone could imagine (we can thank Felice for that one!), their wedding was nothing short of INCREDIBLE!!! After choosing Belle Mer for the stage, the couple decided they wanted all white flowers with platinum accents and glitz everywhere. As Felice's family is in the jewelry business, it was only fitting that there were diamonds and jewels on anything that would stand still! We set the tone early on with gorgeous all white bouquets. Felice's bouquet was tremendous....pure white hydrangea with phalaenopsis orchids, roses, mini callas and stephanotis. Each stephanotis had beautiful jewels tucked into their centers and the bouquet was finished with long, stunning platinum ribbon streamers. The ceremony was adorned in all white florals as well with a touch of elegant crystal strands dangling from the 8 enormous white hydrangea and rose arrangements. Elegant tall candle stands lined the aisle and white pillar candles were set upon a bed of crystals. And as guests arrived they were greeted by 2 white and platinum floral wreaths hanging on the church doors.....diamonds were even peaking out of the wreaths too! But if guests thought that the church decor was over the  top, they had no idea what was in store for them at Belle Mer! Upon arrival, guests were greeted by a massive platinum manzanita tree dripping with crystals and adorned with white carnation spheres perched in its branches. At the base of the tree, Plexiglas trays filled to the brim with diamonds secured  the place cards. Finally, the remaining part of the  table was COVERED in diamonds of all sizes. And when I say covered, I mean COVERED!!! You practically needed sunglasses to enter the room! The cocktail table pieces were even amazing...white carnation spheres set upon white square trays filled with platinum mirrored stones and miniature diamonds. Finally, as guests entered the main salon, they were greeted by 3 over the top centerpiece designs...each accented with an abundance of both diamonds and candlelight in varied sizes. Our first design was a platinum manzanita tree set in a garden of all white flowers...hydrangea, roses, dahlias, and orchids...while long crystal strands and elegant stems of white phalaenopsis orchids hung from the branches! Our second design was an incredible cluster of tall cylinder vases, each with an abundance of one type of flower in each vase. For each design we used large open cut callas, white hydrangea, long white dendrobium orchids as well as draping phalaenopsis orchids. With Tony Ormonde's fabulous lighting, this centerpiece absolutely GLOWED! Finally, our third design was a beautiful free form look with callas, hydrangeas, orchids and platinum curly willow designed in a crackle platinum sphere. From beginning to end, this wedding was spectacular in every way. Feast your eyes on all the details captured by Kristin Spencer Photography.

Spring is Right Around the Corner!!

This photo of the farm showing both cherry blossoms and pink dogwood is making us sooo excited for spring and of course harvesting pails and pails of our numerous varieties of lilacs!

Here are just some of the examples of what we've done using these GORGEOUS flowering branches at the Botanical Garden.

Here's some photos of the very special wedding of our very own Semia!! (that's a whole other future blog post!)

Time to prune the family farm!

Well, it's that time again! The beginning of Spring means the beginning of our tree pruning to make way for all of our gorgeous blooms! Lucky for us,  we get the opportunity to use all of these lovely branches for our designs back at the shop! Right now we have black and white pussy willow, forsythia, and pear and apple branches! Stay tuned for photos of some of our designs using these blooming branches!

Jill & Rich - Quidnessett Country Club, North Kingstown, RI

Here's another awesome letter we received the other day from a great bride!
We LOVE hearing from our brides!!

Dear Semia and FBS Staff,
Words can not express my reaction when I saw our reception room. All the things we talked about--it was amazing! I completely lost it, it was incredible. My bouquet was gorgeous. The way you displayed my grandfather's rosary beads was so touching, my dad was so proud. All of the flowers were just amazing, and Rich loved our name tree! All of our guests are still talking about it!
Thank you so much! You seriously made our BIG day :)
Sincerely,
Jill & Rich
